Overcome the Challenges of Photographing in the Harsh Summer Sunlight and Ensure that Your Photos are Perfect Every time:
  1. Reflectors: A reflector can help bounce light onto your subject, reducing harsh shadows and providing more even lighting.
  2. Find Shade: If possible, move your subject into a shaded area to avoid direct sunlight and harsh shadows.
  3. Golden Hour vs. Blue Hour: Try to shoot early in the morning or late in the afternoon when the sunlight is softer and more flattering.
  4. Large Soft Box (48” +) with Multiple Layers of Diffusion: This diffused light will soften the harsh sunlight, creating a more balanced and pleasing light on your subject. You can use this large light source to block harsh shadows or the sun for headshots.
  5. Adjust Your Camera Settings: Lower your ISO, increase your shutter speed, and use a smaller aperture to prevent overexposure. IE: ISO 100, SS 1/320, f/9.
  6. Fill Flash: A fill flash can help lighten shadows on your subject’s face and create a more balanced exposure.
  7. Position Your Subject Wisely: Position your subject so the sun is behind them to create a backlit effect, reducing harsh shadows on their face.
  8. Use a Lens Hood: A lens hood can help reduce lens flare caused by direct sunlight hitting the lens.
  9. Shoot in RAW: Shooting in RAW format gives you more flexibility in post-processing to correct exposure and reduce harsh highlights and shadows.
  10. Polarizing Filter: A polarizing filter can help reduce glare and reflections, enhancing colors and contrast in your photos.
Fun Fact About Photo Printing

Did you know that the first printed photograph was produced in 1826 by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce? It took him eight hours to expose the image! Today, thanks to modern technology, we can print high-quality photos in seconds. At Integrity Images, we use state-of-the-art printing techniques to ensure your images are long-lasting.
